Night Version by AGBO JOHN TOCHUKWU

I was with the night

I was once conjoined with the night

I have walked out in nights – and back in darks

I have out walked the finest city light

I have looked down the saddest city lane

I saw the shadows of dark creatures lamed

And I dropped my eyes, reluctant and loath to explain

I have stood halt and stopped the resonate of feet

When far away I heard the nuisance of the night’s
indigenes

And I came to think of what my thought imagined

But the nuisance and calls are not to say goodbye

And farther above the high sky

One round luminary clock shines against the dark

Proclaiming that the time was neither wrong nor right

Until the greater light over powered in the dawn

After a great combat and war in the planet beyond.
