DARK HUE AND DARKNESS
I miss you, friend
You know, they know
I missed a friend.
I frown when the sun smiles
And her children sit to laugh
At my complexion.
I will rejoice at night
While their glossy teeth would be rotten
And my complexion be woven into yours.
You’ll sing me a lullaby
To prepare my heart against
The next rising of their laughter.
Then when you are clandestine in darkness
Again, I’ll hug you,
Become invisible and invincible
For a 12 hour’s light of loneliness,
12 hour’s darkness of companionship with you
For I am dark in complexion
And you are darkness.
