cries were strangled
as a lifeless body dangled
from the mouth
of the governor’s statue.
ii.
his deputy was sacked
from his home by
a gang of masked bandits.
the state woke up
to hear the shaky voice
of the news-correspondent
announcing another
executive death.
iii.
the governor—suffering
hypertension and sycophantic
blight begged the
president for urgent help.
his call was forwarded
to a different number
and he watched
as he and his predicament
was forlet.
iv
impeachment came
and as he bowed his head
in shame, he was
picked up and flung
straight into the lagoon.
